It has been two years since My husband Keith and I first met Brian. We were shopping for a grand piano for our dream house. Not just any piano, but the perfect piano. It had been my dream to one day own a Yamaha grand piano. We came to the store to test out a used Yamaha piano, but it was not at all what I was looking for. I knew what tone I wanted and I knew the touch I wanted. I was so disappointed. Brian introduced us to the Hailun Piano. He gave us great information and then allowed us all to play the pianos. He was very encouraging to all three of our teen-age daughters. I was impressed that he wasn't trying to impress us with his piano playing, but was truly interested in us finding the instrument we wanted. We fell in love with a beautiful little 5 foot Mahogany grand. We left that day with a bit of sweet sorrow. We had a lovely time, but I was so hoping to have found the deal of a life time on a Yamaha piano. We returned home discouraged but determined to continue looking. Music is our passion. I teach piano approximatiely 15 hours a week and we have 2 daughters who have completed grade eight piano and our youngest is working on grade eight. - we hear a lot of piano at our house. We also love to sing as a family. Music is a huge part of how we share our faith and how we praise God. We had built our dream house around a grand piano that we didn't have.' A few days later we got an email from Brian with a great offer on the five foot mahogany grand- we were shocked, because we really had never even considered buying a Hailun piano. We had loved the piano but had never considered buying brand new - we were looking at used instruments. After careful consideration and researching more about the instrument, we decided to purchase it. That was shortly after Thanksgiving, and we kept it a surprise to everyone until it was delivered at Easter. Our girls were so excited. My Father had tears in his eyes and I felt blessed beyond all measure that I had a husband who loved me enough to give such a wonderful gift. When the piano was delivered I thought it was truly the most beautiful instrument I have ever seen. The colour even matched the trim in our house! Our house has hard wood floors and a vaulted ceiling - the sound is glorious! The floor plan in our house is very open and the piano is placed right in the center of the living and dining area. It has been wonderful for large family sing alongs and recitals. I teach a music program called "Music For Young Children." These are group lessons where the Parents accompany their child. Every six weeks we do a special recital upstairs on the piano - it is very exciting to play on the grand piano. I am so glad I responded to an ad on Thanksgiving Sunday, that led my family to Brian and "The Piano Gallery." Our life has been richer for it. I know I received the desire of my heart that day. We think of you often as we play our beloved piano! Wishing God's richest Blessing to you and your family. I grew up studying piano and always dreamed of owning my very own ebony Steinway Model M grand piano manufactured during the "Golden Age". I remembered fondly what a treat it was to play that type of old steinway but as i have not kept up with my piano studies as a grown-up, my dream remained a dream. Now I have a family of my own and my kids are taking lessons, my childhood dream moved back on the "personal wish list". I spent months researching through the internet, reading information from Larry Fine's "The Piano Buyer", pursuing classifieds (hard print and internet based), testing pianso through personal ads, and had a good sense of what my "dream piano" would cost as well as how difficult it would be for me to find a good one. I dreaded going into piano stores given the "high pressure" environment many of them have, and the limited variety in brands represented. I found Brian and the Piano Gallery through Kiji and my piano tuner and all i can say is i wish i found him sooner. Brian had a couple of remanufactured Steinway grands in inventory as well as new grand pianos from the brands he represents. I was able to try all of them in a no-pressure, "play on the pianos for as long as you like" environment. His pricing is fair and reasonable and consistent with prices quoted by refurbishing boutiques from the U.S. I love my purchase!. Thank-you Brian for making my dream come true. Whether you are looking for a specific brand of a piano or are open to learning about different brands, go to the Piano Gallery and talk to Brian. He just might be the only store you need to visit and you won't have to worry that you'll be pressured into buying something that isn't really what you wanted.![]() Date of Posting: 30 January 2012 Posted By: Michelle Amateur pianist returning from piano sabbitcal with young children playing piano now, Calgary |
My wife and I purchased a Hailun 178 grand piano from Brian in June, 2011. All my life I have always wanted a grand piano. When the opportunity arose, I was careful to research the available products to ensure I was happy with what was decided on. As an accomplished, but rusty, musician, I have an ear for tone and quality. I visited the various piano shops in Calgary to listen to a number of pianos from a variety of manufacturers. Once I recovered from the sticker shock, I made my way into Brian’s shop. Brian and spoke for well over 2 hours on pianos, from broad generalities to actual specifics of each manufacturer. Once we settled in and I actually heard his instruments played, I was sold on the Hailun brand. I originally selected a Hailun 161, but was surprisingly overruled by my wife, who upgraded us to a Hailun 178. I have been very happy with the performance of this piano. Brian’s aftermarket service is second to none. I strongly recommend that before anyone purchases a piano of any grade or style, they speak to Brian before finalizing their selection. Brian’s openness and unhurried attitude is welcome and refreshing. Thank you Brian for helping me achieve one of my dreams and allowing me to play again after so many years.![]() Date of Posting: 09 September 2011 Posted By: G.Denesuk |
Buying a new piano was a once in a lifetime prospect for us! We had done our research homework and had decided on a specific brand and model. Just by chance, we stopped at The Piano Gallery and had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Brian. Brian was very attentive to what we were looking for and directed us to the Hailun H-1Ep. Never did he pressure or rush us, and he was always willing to explain and answer our many, many questions. We are enjoying our new piano immensely, and Brian is still on hand to share his knowledge and expertise. We highly recommend the purchase of a piano from the Piano Gallery.![]() Date of Posting: 30 June 2011 Posted By: Gerry and Kathy |
My family and I bought a Hailun 5'-4" grand piano from Brian Schmidt last year. It has been one of our best purchases ever. Our children kids practice piano more frequently than before without any prompting because they love the sound of the Hailun. We were looking to invest in a grand piano but were not sure on which brand. After meeting and discussing our needs with Brian, we were impressed with what he had to offer both in the varieties of pianos and the reasonable prices. Having never heard of Hailun, we did our own research and determined that this piano was the best fit for us. The style and finish are beautifully sleek and the sound is unbelievable! One year later and we are still very happy with our choice. Thanks Brian!![]() Date of Posting: 01 June 2011 Posted By: A. Pele |
